If
you are looking for a break from fishing or enjoying the ocean,
Hatteras Village has much to offer in the way of land activities.
The Village has a playground for the kids, a library for everyone in
the family, a nature trail that is elevated over a beautiful salt marsh
where one can go for solitude, bird watching, or just a change of
pace. Although attractions in the Village can be conveniently
reached by foot there are places to rent bikes and golf carts for those
who had rather ride than walk. And yes, there are lots of shops
for those who are looking for unique treasures to carry back home.

Hatteras Village Park
Hatteras Village Park is a
nature reserve located in the heart of the Village where Sea Breeze
Trail winds through a maritime forest and salt marsh. Both high
marsh with needle rush and tidal marsh with Spartina lie under an
evelated boardwalk that meanders through the park. There are free self
guided booklets available that are keyed to animal and plant species
that may be seen there. The park provides free parking and
bicycle racks for its visitors. It is a great place to commune
with nature. |

interested may inquire in the library as to whom to contract to
participate in an archaelogical dig. |
